Power In Your Purpose: A Brighter Future

The future success of any marriage is highly dependent on a husband and a wife finding their unique purpose. Do you know your purpose? Do you know the power in your purpose?  In this blog, you will learn how to find your purpose and how to tap into the power so that your future is better and brighter.

Let's start by defining purpose. Purpose means the reason for which something is done or created or the reason for which something exists.

The simplest way to find the purpose of something, is to go back to its creator. For example, to find out the purpose of a cell phone, you would check out it’s manual. WHY? Because the person who created the cell phone knows its purpose and its special functionalities and reveals them in its manual. The same goes for everything else, including marriage. To find out the purpose of a husband or a wife, we need to go the manual. As believers, the manual is the Bible and the creator is God.

In the manual, God says, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you;” (Jer 1:5). Then God says, “For I know the plans I have for you, …. plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (Jer 29:11).

God knew you would be married and gave you a purpose, so that your marriage will be blessed, prosperous and hopeful. The problem is, many marriages die because the husband and/or the wife do not know their purpose. Subsequently, couples make plans for themselves and they make plans for the marriage and at the end of it all, they are frustrated, not satisfied and in some cases, miserable.

God’s will, is for a husband and wife to find their purpose and here is how you can find yours. This is powerful. The manual says, “Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass” (Ps 37:4-5).

To find your purpose, you need to connect to God and to the desires in your heart. However, your desires must line up with God’s original purpose for marriage, which is ONENESS.

To check to see if your desires are lining up, you need to understand the designer’s intent for a husband and a wife and then create a plan to get to ONENESS. Everything you need to know about God’s intent for functionality of a husband and a wife is given in Eph 5: 21-32, 1 Peter 3:1-7, Col 3:18, Gen 2:18-24.

A purpose driven husband must have the desire to lead (as head- Eph 5:23) with love (Eph 5:25) as he cherishes and nourishes his wife (Eph 5:29). A purpose driven wife must have the desire to submit (Eph 5:22) with respect (Eph 5:33) as she helps her husband as his helper (Gen 2:18). God has placed this desire in you and there is power when you are able to tap into your desires.

God says to the husband, you leave and cleave to your wife (Gen 2:24) and my original intent, says God, is that the man is to be the head of his bride (his wife) as Christ is the head of his bride (the church). Then God says to the wife, help your husband be the best as you submit to his headship and respect his leadership.

Once you understand your individual purpose as a husband and as a wife, the power in your purpose comes when both come together to plan for a better and brighter future.
